Truffle Products: How to Use Truffle Oil, Sauce, Honey, Salt and More

Pasta topped with shaved black truffle

Fresh truffles are seasonal and precious, but truffle products let you enjoy truffle flavour any day of the year. A spoonful of truffle sauce or a drizzle of truffle oil can turn simple pasta, eggs or fries into something special. Here is how to use the most popular truffle products.

Truffle sauce

Truffle sauce is the most versatile truffle product in the kitchen. It is usually made with mushrooms, olive oil and truffle, and it is ready to use straight from the jar.

  • Stir 1–2 tablespoons into hot pasta with butter and a splash of the cooking water.
  • Spread it on bruschetta or add it to a toasted sandwich.
  • Mix it with mayonnaise for a quick truffle mayo for burgers and fries.

For an even quicker meal, try our ready-to-eat truffle sauces from Tartufi Jimmy, such as truffle & cheddar sauce, truffle & tomato sauce and pesto Genovese with truffle – just heat and toss with pasta.

Truffle creams and pâtés

Truffle creams and truffle pâtés are rich spreads that combine truffle with other ingredients such as cheese or mushrooms. Serve them on crostini with an aperitivo, use them to fill ravioli, or melt a spoonful into risotto at the end of cooking.

Truffle oil

Truffle oil is a finishing oil – use it at the end, not for frying, because heat fades the aroma. A few drops are enough.

  • Drizzle over pizza, risotto, mashed potato or carpaccio.
  • Toss hot fries with truffle oil, salt and grated Parmigiano.
  • Add to a salad dressing or a bowl of popcorn.

Tip: read the label – some truffle oils contain pieces of real truffle, while others are flavoured with truffle aroma.

Truffle honey

Truffle honey brings together sweet and earthy flavours. It is wonderful drizzled over Pecorino, Parmigiano Reggiano, Gorgonzola or a Maltese cheese board. The Tartufi Jimmy Hot Truffle Honey adds a little heat – try it on pizza, focaccia or fried chicken.

Truffle salt

Truffle salt is sea salt mixed with pieces of truffle. Sprinkle it on eggs, fries, steak, popcorn or buttered corn just before serving.

Truffle butter is one of the easiest ways to add truffle to hot food. Melt it over a steak, stir it into risotto or scrambled eggs, or toss it with fresh tagliatelle.

Preserved truffles and truffle carpaccio

Preserved truffles – whole truffles and truffle carpaccio in jars – are a practical alternative when fresh truffles are out of season. Use them on pasta, pizza, canapés and meat dishes.

Black truffle caviar

Black truffle caviar from Tartufi Jimmy is an elegant topping for canapés, blinis, pasta and eggs – a small jar goes a long way.

Truffle pesto, condiments and spices

Our truffle pesto and truffle condiments include products such as truffle honey mustard, summer truffle ketchup and truffle spice blends. They are an easy way to add truffle flavour to burgers, salads, grilled vegetables and roast potatoes.

Truffle pasta, snacks and gifts

Complete your meal with Italian pasta, enjoy truffle snacks with a glass of wine, and surprise a food lover with a truffle gift box. If you buy fresh truffles, a truffle slicer is essential.

How to store truffle products

Keep unopened jars in a cool, dry place. Once opened, most truffle sauces, creams and preserved truffles should be kept in the fridge and used within a few days – always follow the instructions on the label.
